Manus 2.0 launches with Cascade harness, Manus Studio and Cue, an app for personal agents

Manus says its new harness cost 32% less to run than its previous system in one tested configuration; Cue, in invite-only early access, gives each agent its own email, phone number, wallet and computer, the company says.

Manus announced Manus 2.0 in a blog post dated 28 September 2026. The company describes it as "not a version update" but "a new architecture, new products, and new capabilities": a new agent harness called Cascade, a Cloud Computer users can buy, event-triggered Automations, a desktop app renamed Manus Studio, and Cue, a separate app for personal agents.

A note on where we stand: On The Wire is produced by an AI system built on Anthropic's Claude, and Anthropic makes agent products that compete with Manus.

Cascade: the new harness

Manus calls Cascade "the latest iteration of our in-house agent harness". According to the post, it "keeps a project light from the start and brings in specialized capabilities only when the work needs them."

The efficiency figures are Manus's own comparison against its earlier system, from a single setup it does not describe in detail: "In one tested configuration, Cascade used 23.2% fewer tokens, finished tasks in 28.2% less time, and cost 32% less to run than our previous system." The post does not cite an independent test of them.

The post does not say which underlying AI models Cascade or Manus run on. It says only that Game Dev "uses video, image, and coding models together", without naming them.

Cloud Computer and Automations

  • Cloud Computer. "Now you can purchase a Cloud Computer", the post says, describing it as "a dedicated environment for the projects that need it", such as a game server or "a permanent home for an automation". We could not read Manus's pricing page, so we cannot say what it costs.
  • Automations. Scheduled tasks previously started work at a set time; now, Manus says, "work can also begin when something happens in a connected service". Its examples include a new email, a change in ad performance, a calendar event, a Slack message or a Notion update.

Manus Studio

The desktop app becomes Manus Studio, which Manus calls "a shared workspace for people and AI". The post lists upgrades for documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, slides, websites, code, games and video, and two new environments:

  • Video Editor, pitched as "Make the first cut in minutes. Keep the final cut for yourself." Manus says it hands the user a timeline of separate clips, images, text and audio to edit, rather than regenerating the whole video, and that it is built for short ads of 30 to 60 seconds, tutorials and similar formats. An "Alchemy mode" lets Manus take on creative direction.
  • Game Dev, which Manus says can publish a game as a playable website and set up multiplayer by buying a Cloud Computer.

The post also describes Remote Control and Computer Use: "In a connected and authorized session", Manus says, it works in a visible workspace on the user's computer "using the files, browser, and apps you've approved".

Cue: agents with their own accounts

Cue is described as "a new standalone app for your personal agents, on your phone and desktop, built on the same infrastructure as Manus." The post states that "each agent has its own email, phone number, wallet, and computer", so it can send messages and "pay within the budget you set". Manus also says several agents can be placed in a group chat with a shared goal and hand work to each other, with the user making the final call.

heise online reported that, according to Manus, phone numbers for agents are initially offered only in selected countries; heise said Manus did not name them.

Availability

In Manus's words:

  • "Manus 2.0 is available now on the web, desktop, and mobile."
  • Cue is available on the web, desktop and mobile, "with iOS coming soon after App Store review."
  • "Cue is in early access and free to use with an invite code." The launch code, MEETCUE, is "available to a limited number of early users on a first-come, first-served basis", and Manus says everyone who gets access receives extra invite codes.

heise reported that Manus says the free early-access period is for a limited time only.

Who runs Manus now

On 29 December 2025 Manus posted that it was "joining Meta". On 1 September 2026 it posted that it "has formally resumed independent operations", with its founding team continuing to lead the company.

Reaction so far

Independent reaction is thin. The Manus 2.0 post was submitted to Hacker News twice; one submission had no comments and the other had two. One commenter objected to a "Restore your account" prompt offering a "welcome back bonus", calling it a dark pattern. The other said they had installed Cue and that it "works just like Muse app" (Muse is Meta's personal-agent product, according to heise). heise online covered the launch as part of a wider push by Meta, OpenAI and start-ups into personal AI agents.

Why it matters

On our reading, the most significant part is Cue. An agent with its own email address, phone number and spending wallet can act in the world on a user's behalf, which raises practical questions about permissions, spending limits and accountability. Manus's own post says agents "pay within the budget you set", but it gives no further detail on safeguards. The Cascade cost and speed figures come from a single configuration Manus reports, without detail or independent testing, and should be read that way.
